The “baton” has been passed on to me from our past President Kathleen A. Barry, MD. Dr. Barry did an excellent job last year. Among the many actions implemented under her leadership, the defeat of the Michigan Physician’s Tax and the transition of the MRS meetings to web-based meetings stand out.
- Officers this year:
- President Elect – Nancy E Gregory, MD
- Vice President – Suresh Mukherji, MD, FACR
- Secretary – Paul Chuba, MD
- Treasurer – Biren A Shah, MD
A majority of our Board members joined the Executive Committee when they attended the National AMCLC conference in Washington, DC in May. This year’s main topic was Self Referral.
Dr. Carol Rumack, President of ACR spoke about developing regulation standards for radiation safety to protect patients.
On behalf the Michigan Radiological Society Board of Trustees, I would like to congratulate and thank Kurt E Tech, MD FACR, Chair of the Membership Committee, for selecting individuals that make the Board more diversified this year.
Alkis Zingas, MD, FACR, Chair of the Fellowship Committee, did a great job again for selecting twelve highly qualified individuals to receive fellowship in the American College of Radiology. Michigan fared better than all the other states.
Please forward your updated email addresses to our Executive Director Ms. Shannon Sage.
We are working to develop a good relationship with Radiation Oncologists and Osteopathic Physicians in the state of Michigan.
We are fortunate to have the American College of Radiology (ACR). ACR was instrumental in (1) The proper coding for Abdominal CTs, which decreased the number of denials for payment and (2) The successful campaign to avoid 50% reduction of payment for Mammography Screening.
I urge you to continue your membership in ACR.
I would like to thank all of the radiological society members for giving me an opportunity to serve as your President of our great organization.
I look forward to another great year.
